…while this is an important moment in civil-rights history, it is also an important moment in political history—in which the lesson, for the gay community and, perhaps, for anyone advocating for change, is that words are important, but we have to insist on action from our friends.

the last one…
Gorgeous/ and allergies

The first two books of The Saxon Stories I’ve found to be a little too brutish for my immediate liking, and yet I’ll probably continue reading the series intermittently. It’s about a boy who grows into adulthood during the 800s and is highly involved in the proceedings of Alfred the Great’s conquest of England. I would recommend it, but only to those who specifically like that sort of genre.

Finally got to this because of a deadline - I wanted to have read the book before the PBS Masterpiece mini-series that aired on April 1. I don’t really feel I need to comment on this as most people know Dickens, and this book in particular. Mini-series was great though!

BAH. I already mentioned the Kingkiller Chronicle on an earlier date, and I’m already re-listening to this audio book series when Im bored and need something fun.

This was adorable. Yeah, a kids book - but sometimes simple stories are all I can handle when listening to an audio book and working on some project for work at the same time. I say “simple” and I don’t really like what that implies - but in brief, the book’s about a boy, Nobody Owens, who escapes a murder and his family’s ill fate as a baby and is adopted by a graveyard of ghosts. Lots of adventures ensue. Plus, I love Neil Gaiman - Sandman, anyone?

Moving on with more Fantasy. If you liked A Song of Ice and Fire and think you might like more fantasy.. try this set. There’s currently ten books out, this is the first - very intricate, involved, and unlike anything I’ve read before or even heard about. Im holding off on ordering the second book in order to get in some normal people books I’ve been putting off since I hit a home-run in the fantasy section with the Kingkiller Chronicle.

Started this, haven’t finished. I heard people were saying if you liked the Millennium Series, then try this set… so I tried it. I like it, but I got the book on audio and it isn’t working out so well with trying to do anything else at the same time. This is actually the third book in the Harry Hole series, but Im under the impression you don’t have to read them in order. Harry is a detective in Sweden, and this particular book has to do with neo-nazi sects in current day Sweden and something about an old man, whose part in the story Im not certain about yet, who fought on the other side of WWII. Plus, I saw in movie previews on Sunday that one of Jo Nesbo’s Harry Hole books is going to be a movie.

Just got on audio! Can’t wait to start it as I LOVED listening to 11.22.63 this past February, and also The Shining a few summers back.
A note on 11.22.63 - it’s unlike any impression you might have about a typical Stephen King story-line. It does have some creepy factors, but this book is an excellent and well-crafted story about time travel, obviously the Kennedy assassination, and what could happen if you changed time itself.

Also just started reading. All I know is that it’s about a girl who goes through the foster care system, and that it’s going to be good (from a well-trusted source ;) ).
